Just about 25 minutes (13 Km) drive from KPD Residency. The Isha yoga center is surrounded by thriving farms at the foot of the Velliangiri Mountains in the Western Ghats, the Adiyogi Shiva Statue here is the world's largest bust statue dedicated to Lord Shiva, carved from 500 tons of steel. Located in the Isha Yoga complex in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the statue is 112 feet tall.
The Guinness World Book of Records recognized the statue as the "largest bust statue", which is 34.3 meters high excluding pedestal, 45 meters long and 7.62 meters wide. Designed by the founder of Isha Foundation - Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24th February 2017. The statue was built with the idea of inspiring and promoting yoga, and the statue is called "Adiyogi" meaning "the first yogi" as Lord Shiva is known as the founder of yoga.
This temple is located about 15 Km from KPD Residency. Essentially dedicated to Lord Shiva. Velliangiri Temple is considered to be the most famous place of worship in and the surrounding area, with a huge number of tourist groups visiting this temple to offer their prayers.
The devotees can hike through the hill of Veliangiri which is at an altitude of 6000 feet to Worship Lord Shiva who is known as Swayambhu. This Trekking will be open between the months of February to May (Women between 10 to 50 years of age are not permitted to climb up the hills). Additionally, the hills are known for their exorbitant natural resources. If you are familiar with herbology, you can find rare herbs grown in the hills and used for medicinal purposes.
The Marudhamalai Hill Temple called Sri Dandayuthapani Temple is located at an altitude of 500 feet high in the Western Ghats. Located 14 km northwest of KPD Residency, this temple has a wonderfully refreshing atmosphere. Vehicles are allowed to drive to the Marudhamalai temple and Devastanam offers their buses from the lower slants called “Maruthamalai Adivaram” of the hill to go to the temple at the top.
The main deity is Lord Murugan and the temple recognizes a pleasant experience while offering prayers to the deity. The main feature of this hill is the growth of important medicinal herbs that are widely used in the manufacture of Ayurvedic medicines.
Kovai Kutralam Waterfalls is an exhilarating waterfall located in the scenic region of Siruvani. Also known as Siruvani Waterfalls, it is about 21 kilometres away from KPD Residency and the waterfall is predominantly manifested for its exaltedness. This is the only place near Coimbatore where you can find a beautiful mesmerizing waterfall for 365 days.
Visitors are not allowed to enter the falls after 5pm, as the waterfall is located in the deepest part of the impregnable forest.
Arulmigu Patteeswarar Swamy Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located 10 km away from KPD Residency. This great temple is of great religious, cultural and historical significance for Lord Shiva’s (Pateeshwarar's) devotees and followers who come from all over the world to offer their prayers.
This temple is also known as the temple dedicated to Lord Nataraj. Ancient works of art, paintings, sculptures and carvings also attract art lovers. Patteeswarar Swamy Temple is also one of the largest temples in Coimbatore. Many devotees say that visiting this temple gives them a positive vibe and helps them redefine themselves. The idol of Lord Shiva (Patteeswarar) is seen with a scar on its head which was given by Kamdhenu, and her footprint is also maintained in the temple. Anuvavi Subramaniar Temple could be a Hindu temple devoted to Lord Murugan. Located at 22 km from KPD Residency ,the temple is found on the northern slants of the Maruthamalai hills close to Periyathadagam, a suburb of Coimbatore on the Coimbatore - Anaikatti road. This temple is one of the interesting Murugan temples related to Lord Hanuman.
The story behind this is, when Lord Hanuman was carrying Sanjeevi Hill on his way back to Lanka to save Lakshmana's life, he felt very thirsty and stopped at this place to quench his thirst. To his dismay, he was unable to find water at the location. He prayed to Lord Murugan to quench his thirst. When Murugan threw his spear (vel) to a place with a hill, water flowed out from that place.
